[Checker-l] very silent indeed

One A12-E Checker was built with the small rear doors. As anyone who owns a  
A11-e or a A12-e the rear doors sag due to the excess weight. We received many 
 complaints on this problem. Sometime,in the 70's I asked David Markin if I 
could  build a new A12-E with regular rear doors. He asked me show him a 
drawing of  one, which I did. After permission I, with help of a couple key 
employees,  welded a second center pillar into a E body. We filled in the nine inches  
between the two pillars with a front door skin on the lower & a flat  panel 
above the belt line , which was covered with vinyl roof material. The  inside 
panel was covered with headliner material. This body was ran down the  
production line to completion. It looked great and the doors did not sag.  This was 
the only Checker built with this configuration. The Engineering Dept.  put the 
kabosh on the idea. I have no idea what ever happened to this one of a  kind.
